Lim Hock Siang was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 9 November 1996 and has been a partner of Presgrave & Matthews since 1 January 2002.
He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and is a panel arbitrator, adjudicator and mediator on the panel of arbitrators, adjudicators and mediators of Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC).
His main practice areas are in arbitration, adjudication under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (“CIPAA”) and general civil litigation with emphasis in construction and engineering, international sales of goods, professional negligence, minority oppression suits, company liquidation and tax appeals.
He acts as counsel and also sits as an arbitrator (institutional and ad hoc) in arbitration proceedings. His arbitral appointment includes an appointment made pursuant to Section 24 (2) of the Courts of Judicature Act 1964 by the High Court.
He also act as counsel and sits as adjudicator in adjudication proceedings under CIPAA.
He advises clients on tenders and construction contracts which adopts standard form building contracts promulgated by FIDIC, AIAC, PAM, IEM, JKR and ICC.
He has extensive experience in preparing and defending construction claims involving extension of time, LAD, loss and expense, construction failure and defects, and final accounts.
He has been appointed as Honorary Legal Advisor to the Working Committee of Justice of Peace Mediation Bureau of Penang.
He has appeared as guest speaker for Institutions such as the Malaysian Bar Council, Masters Builders Association, PAM Northern Chapter, Royal Institution of Surveyor Malaysia, Inland Revenue, and Council of Justice of Peace Penang.
He holds a Bachelor-of-Laws degree and a Bachelor of Commerce degree, major in accounting and finance from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
Mr. Lim Hock Siang earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree with a major in Accounting and Finance from the University of Melbourne, Australia. His solid academic background supports his broad practice areas, combining both legal and financial expertise.
He is also a Fellow of the Asian International Arbitration Centre (FCIArb) and a Fellow of the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (FAIADR).
